Print-and-play game

Color Quest Scavenger Hunt

This is my go-to game when kids need to move but I only have a few minutes. Print the cards, pick a few colors, and send them off to hunt around the house or yard. It's fast, silly, and builds observation skills without feeling like school.

Ages 3-810-20 minutesIndoor or outdoor
Tip: keep the cards on a ring for quick play.

Setup

  • Print the card page and cut along the dashed lines.
  • Choose 4-6 cards for a short round.
  • Decide your play space (one room, the backyard, or the whole house).

How to play

  • Give each player the same set of cards.
  • On “go,” kids hunt for an object that matches each card.
  • Place the object on the card or draw it in the box.
  • First to finish wins, or play cooperatively and cheer each find.

Easy + harder variations

  • Easy: Use 3 cards and stay in one room.
  • Harder: Add a timer or ask kids to find two objects per card.
  • Quiet version: Kids sketch their finds in the boxes instead of collecting items.
