Shadow Match Cards
These simple cards turn quiet time into a quick, hands-on matching game. Kids hunt for the shadow that matches each object, building visual discrimination and focus without a screen.
Suggested ages
Ages 3-8
Setup
- Print both pages on cardstock or regular paper.
- Cut out the 24 cards (12 objects + 12 shadows).
- Optional: laminate for longer play.
How to play
- Lay the shadow cards face up in the middle.
- Shuffle the object cards and give each player 3-4.
- Take turns matching an object to its shadow. Keep the pair if you match.
- When all pairs are made, count your matches.
Quick variations
- Easy mode: play with 6 pairs at a time.
- Memory mode: place all cards face down and flip two to find a match.
- Speed round: set a 2-minute timer and race to match as many as you can.
