Montessori print-and-play

Sensory Scavenger Hunt Cards

This is one of those quick wins: print the cards, toss them in a basket, and let kids explore the house with their hands. It feels like Montessori shelf work, but it doubles as a game.

Ages 3-810-20 minutesIndoor friendly
Tip: card stock makes them sturdier.

Setup

  • Print the card page and cut along the dashed lines.
  • Place the cards in a basket or on a tray.
  • Invite your child to draw one card at a time.

How to play

  • Read the card together and name the texture or sound.
  • Hunt for an item that matches the prompt.
  • Place the item on the tray, then draw a new card.

Easy + harder variations

  • Easy: Use 6 cards and stay in one room.
  • Harder: Set a timer, or sort finds into "natural" and "man-made".
